The Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Lab is pleased to host Prof. Dan Frey from MIT, who was my PhD thesis advisor. Dan is the Faculty Research Director for D-Lab, which works with people around the world to develop and advance collaborative approaches and practical solutions to global poverty challenges.
About the Speaker:
Dan Frey is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and conducts research in engineering design theory and statistics. He has developed and analyzed an adaptive approach to robust design. He served as a founding co-Director of the International Design Center at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. He currently serves as Principal Investigator of a USAID-funded program in Guatemala entitled “Achieving Sustainable Partnerships for Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE).” The project’s goal is to improve the links in Latin America between higher education and the economy. Professor Frey is also active in design pedagogy and is frequently involved in efforts to review and improve engineering education internationally.
