Who: Family Medicine Medical Students
When: Scholarship application due 8/2/24, award notification in early September 2024
Hello Medical Students with a future in Family Medicine!
Through the gift of a generous donor, the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is able to offer one (1) $550 scholarship for students intending to enter Family Medicine who participate in the upcoming One Health Field School in India. The field school will run from 12/30/24-1/14/25. Please see this website for a full description of the field school.
Requirements: Interested students should
1. complete the application for the field school at UW International Academic Program website.
2. submit the following to Ann Evensen, MD at ann.evensen@fammed.wisc.edu
*Name
* UW student ID number
*Year in medical school
* Family medicine rotations/electives completed and expected in the future
*200-300 word description of how you think the One Health India Field School may influence your future work as a family physician
Important Notes:
*Scholarship applications will not be considered until the student has completed the UW IAP program application, also due on 8/2/24.
*The scholarship recipient will be notified of the award before they are required to commit to the India Field School.
*Scholarship funds will be deposited to the student’s Bursar account after the field school is completed.
*After return to the US, the scholarship recipient is expected to 1) write a paragraph about their experience to provide to the donor, 2) present about their experience at a UW Family Medicine Interest Group activity, and 3) (optional) provide a photo of themselves while participating in the field school.
*There are ADDITIONAL scholarship funds available through the UW IAP for all graduate/professional students participating in their programs. In past years, about 30% of our Field School participants have received some scholarship funds. This award for FM students is separate from the UW IAP scholarships and therefore requires this separate application through WiSH. If a student is awarded both the DFMCH and IAP scholarships, the total award would be limited to the amount of the UW IAP field school program fee.
Please reach out to Dr Ann Evensen at ann.evensen@fammed.wisc.edu for any questions about the field school or this scholarship opportunity.
Good luck!
