At this Fulbright-led session, UW-Madison students & alumni will learn about all the opportunities available to pursue graduate or professional study, conduct research, practice their creative & performing arts, and teach English abroad through the Fulbright US Student Program. During the session, you will find out about the full range of Fulbright awards, what the application involves, and next steps in preparing yourself for the coming competition. Following a program overview from Fulbright - including a conversation with Fulbright program alumni - attendees will enter a breakout room with UW-Madison's Fulbright Coordinator (Mark Lilleleht, uwfulbright@wisc.edu) to learn more about applying through the UW-Madison and the resources & support we offer.
Practitioners in international development face the challenge of determining which aspects of their programs are working and which are not. These assessments need to accommodate the fact that families and communities are often receiving multiple interventions with the implementation of various components overlapping. Related to this scenario, the Design of Experiments has been successful in engineering systems with multiple input factors. This presentation will explore the adaptation of these engineering methods to these scenarios including how to design the experiments to maximize improvements, determine the appropriate size of the experiment, and decide if the magnitude of improvements offsets the cost of the experiment.
